Josephine Salvatrice Pititto | Australia
Started using watercolours at age 42 after a few years of chronic illness where i was unable to carry on with my busy life.
That was the start of a very surprising and exciting time discovering a hidden talent which i was not aware of. I took to watercolour painting with much ease and gusto . Within 6 months i received my first 2 awards and 2 art pieces in a show. That encouraged me to continue on with what i was doing.
In 2002 travelled to Tuscany with art group and realised that i needed the strength of oil paints to capture all that strong bold green colour.
I enjoy the the time and pleasure that oil painting offers to paint wet on wet till I am happy with the e result.
In 2005 i discovered my roots in Sicily and somehow it spurred me to use use a different medium to capture my emotions of finally finding the missing pieces to my life.
Ink was the one, it enabled with its flow to capture subconscious thoughts and emotions.
I have been awarded 160 awards over the years. Have been represented by galleries.
I am currently in a break from being totally immersed in art caring for grandchildren and elderly mother and am eager to start some new ideas from these experiences of life when time will be right.
