CLARA DE BOBES | Spain
Trained in Art Schools of Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Bilbao, Clara de Bobes extracts her material from a file in continuous development of personal photographs and images taken from magazines and newspapers.
His paintings are not a literal interpretation of his photographic sources. The size, presentation and colour make them a portrait of what we do not see, what underlies the aesthetics of the visible, with an emotion and passion that, under the skin of everyday reality, drags us into the realm of dreams.
Bobes deprives the portrait of his public image and endows him with another identity, which, no less obvious, ceases to represent the subject intensely and faithfully. From the canvas, he strips his soul through his eyes.
In these times of speed and change, Bobes wants to stop and show what we usually go unnoticed, what is not seen and yet is there.
In his works, the importance of what we do not see causes the veil that hides us in this unknown world to fall and that makes us uneasy and restless.
What is on the other side of the skin of reality?
Numerous collective and individual exhibitions in Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Bilbao, Biarritz, Paris, Ourense, Málaga, New York...
