HAYATO TAKANO | United States

Born in Toyama, Japan and now based in Los Angeles, CA, Hayato Takano is known both for his musical talent and for his artwork.  He started he artistic path while he was still a teenager.  Then in 2002, he transitioned into collage art, starting by making a piece for his then-girl, who is today his wife. As a poor music student in Los Angeles at the time, Hayato made her a present by using torn sheet of her favorite music as the material and then stumbled into a lifelong passion for the medium.

His unique technique of paper collage gives new life to original aesthetic narratives dedicated to famous people of music and cinema.  Fragments of musical scores are selected, juxtaposed and superimposed with extreme care and patience.  As in the unplugged version of a music piece which favors the natural sound, Hayato doesn't resort to any artificial or digital manipulation, but regulates its creative impulses through craftsmanship and manual care, giving life to a fragment poetic capable to go beyond Dadaist aspiration by transforming art into life.  Notes float together, giving us back the profiles and faces of well-known characters, with suprising realism in his own interpretation.

September 2016, Hayato put on his first major art exhibit, at Mr. Musichead gallery in Hollywood, CA., were his art is still currently shown.  He was then featured in Making the Cut, Vol.1 the World’s Best Collage Artist, interviewed for BBC News and auctioned at the Grammy Charity Event.  In 2017, out of 4207 contestants and 236 finalists, he won the Chairman’s Award at Art Revolution Taipei.  In 2018, his art was featured in International Contemporary Masters, XII and shown at Art Revolution Taipei 2018.  Hayato won the Giulio Cesare award in Velli Palace, Rome and showed at Galleria 360 in Firenze, Italy.  In April 2019, the artwork of Hayato Takano will be showed at Art Revolution Taipei.
