Im a mixed media abstract artist. Im greatly influenced by abstract expression and the artists and images from that art movement. I usually incorporate a grid into the first layer of my paintings. The grid represents the matrix of our lives. The thousands of twists turns and decisions we make that shape our lives.I also use a paste that goes onto the top layer of my paintings.The paste gives the work a textural 3D effect to the paintings. My work is about a deeper introspective feeling. Its hard to describe where its coming from or what it exactly means. The paintings just sort of come to me and stay in my mind until Im compelled to make them. I think about the colours to use and the composition of the painting. I contemplate the details for days months and sometimes years. When I feel i have the composition right I set out to make the painting. I have the composition in mind but the colours are generally intuitive and spontaneous. Sometimes when I paint tits like a meditation. When I'm finished I often wonder how did I do that?
