Sotaro Takanami
My retrospective was held at the Osaka Takashimaya Museum from January 6th to February 26th, 2024. I was nervous because there were so many media and visitors, and I got gastroenteritis, but it was a very fulfilling experience.
For me, painting is like drinking water when you're thirsty. Painting is the only thing that makes me feel alive. I was touched when I found dayflowers blooming in a gutter, and created this work. At first, I drew them realistically as they were visible, but as I added more and more, they eventually became blue dots. Finally, I am very happy that people overseas can see my work through books.
