There is a geometric research of the figure in the works by Annemarie Ambrosoli, but first of all there is the spirit of the story, there is the description of everyday life, there is the family atmosphere that leads the rhythms of life, there is the story of many of us. There are the colors that bring us to a meaning of luminosity, of breathable space, and the forms that comes out of the symbol to enter in the image… And there is the spirit of this geometry, essential also in the vision of the many human habits, spheres, parallel planes, sprouts of passions and loves…The compositions are full of luminous neo-surreal affinities, vaguely cubist. The round and ornate faces assume a universal physiognomy… From this art emerges an artist with an unmistakable cultural and stylistic identity, who, in the inexhaustible vortex of her vision, gives us an interpretation of a world in which reigns the palpable pleasure of a time still full of pleasant encounters (Giorgio Falossi)
Works like these are distinguished by the artist's choice not to paint the eyes in her figures, but to give only to the mouth the task of transmitting an expression. The mouth therefore has the demanding task of synthesize and embody facial expression. Flexuous and rounded lines give life to female figures characterized by the typical attributes of the female universe: long hair or gathered in particular hairstyles, hats of different shapes or showy jewels on the ears … (Daniele Radini Tedeschi)
1. What’s your background?
I was born in South Tyrol in 1954 and I lived in several countries with my family.
My training in art began from a young age, especially watching my uncle Ercole Frigoli while painting in his studio, receiving from him many tips that were useful and important for me, for my art in the future. I attended several courses at the Summer Academy Bruneck (BZ)(IFAB) under the guidance of academic professors:prof. Claus Pack, for landscape and prof. Reinhard Adlmannseder for nude and figure as well as I attended drawing courses.
Finally I specialised in landscape paintings, portraits and from 2016 I paint stylized figures. I am a International Certified Artist - ICA - by International Institute for Artist Accreditation – Waalwijk - The Netherlands. My art has been awarded several times in recent years. I exhibit internationally at art fairs, in Hong Kong, Dubai, Shanghai and more.
2. What does your work aim to say?
With my art I want to convey positivity, joy, love and mystery. I paint stylized figures that convey great tranquility and serenity, inspired by classical music, songs, poems. I convey my emotions with colors applied with a flat paint, using symbols and complementary vibrant colors. I usually paint with oil or watercolor. In my painting I give free rein to my ideas, my dreams, my subconscious. During my creative process I combine my talents to create an extraordinary artwork that gives solutions to a better quality of life.
3. How does your work comment on current social or political issues?
We are in a dramatic and dark period politically and socially. All peoples in the world are suffering from this pandemic which has deeply shocked us. My art does not comment on current social or political issues, but wants to convey a great message of positivity to the viewer, through the bright colors of the paintings, the joyful expression of the painted figures and through the balanced composition, a great message for a better, happy and positive life.
4. Who are your biggest influences?
symbolism and futurism.
5. How has your art evolved over the years?
I began my artistic career as a landscape painter "en plein air" and painted landscapes for many years, including portraits. Painting from the real was a great lesson for the study of colors to be applied on the canvas. In fact, the sudden change of light and shadows on sunny days forced me to be quick to change the colors on the canvas.
In 2016 the change, I have developed a way of seeing things from a new point of view, simplified by combining geometry and fantasy. I am inspired by the music, songs, poems and life situations around me.
I love to paint. I have a passion for painting and colors since I was very young. My thoughts and emotions are transformed on the canvas into figures in a semi-abstract context that is recognizable, but which must be interpreted and understood. The drawing is not born in the painting phase, but is studied in detail by creating preparatory sketches to have a balanced composition. The main techniques I use are the oil technique and the watercolor on linen canvas or card for watercolors. The oil technique is for me the ideal medium because it gives me the possibility to create very fine transparent flat glazes. I simplify my figures with lines, circles, geometries. Despite the absence of shadows, the depth in the works of art is given by multiple varieties of paintings.
6. What does art mean to you?
For me art is emotion, imagination, originality and creativity, spontaneity and my desire to convey positive messages.
7. What’s the most valuable piece of art to you?
I would choose one of my latest paintings:
Burning Violin, that is inspired by Leonard Cohen’s song entitled Dance me to the end of Love. In this work I describe with colors the passionate story of a man and of a woman, who are very closed in their love and with her passion they ignite a violin, that plays. In this work I use vibrant, complementary colors to achieve vibrancy. The blond hair of the girl, the orange hair of the man, the love between them, the dreamy musicians playing the violin, the burning violin, painted in red, the bright colors: all this conveys emotion.
8. What’s next for you in the future?
I am focusing on new projects. I am preparing new paintings for the upcoming art exhibitions in Tokyo, Oxford, Amsterdam and I hope in the near future to continue exhibiting in Hong Kong where I have participated in previous years.
