My work is based on the observation of my surroundings. I travel a lot, so there is an endless supply of ideas, It goes from scenes in busy urban environment to landscapes with tormented skies.
The unusual, the dramatic, the sometimes (unintended) humour of certain situation, is the sort of thing I am trying to convey in my paintings.
Contemporary Art Station: Tell us about how you got started. When did you know you wanted to be an artist?
Always did. Since childhood.
CAS: What is your process like, from initial idea to the creation of the piece? Do you usually develop the idea for a project before you find the "canvas", or vice versa?
I observe what's around me, and draw a lot , sketches etc, and that in turn triggers ideas.
CAS: What do you love most about your creative process?
I don't know
CAS: What role does art and the artist play in the broader social conversation today?
Weird question. I'm not sure I get what it.
CAS: Name a few of your favourite artists and influences.
Rembrandt, Goya, Turner, Charlie Russel, Magritte.
CAS: What is the best advice you received as an artist?
Look, observe, don't give up, enjoy it.
CAS: When did you discover your voice as an artist?
Not sure what that question means.
CAS: What advice would you give to emerging artists trying to find their own?
Be yourself.
